10th Anniversary Concert

Harmonia celebrated their 10th Anniversary by holding a concert at St.Peter's Church in Norton. They invited York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir to join their celebrations and both choirs provided the audience with a fantastic evening of song. Their repertoires were varied and as a finale the choirs joined together to give a wonderful rendition of Rhythm of Life. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped on the night.

St.Michael's Church, Great Edstone

The choir were thrilled to return to this beautiful church, in such an idyllic setting, albeit on a very warm summer's evening. Harmonia and the audience nearly melted in the heat but that didn't spoil a wonderful night of singing! The proceeds from the evening went to the church.

Bridlington Priory

The choir made their way to Bridlington on a very wet evening to sing for the first time in the beautiful Bridlington Priory. Many braved the elements to come and listen and they were not disappointed. The choir sang an eclectic mix of songs and styles some well known and some probably unknown to the audience. The choir thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of singing in such a large venue and were made to feel extremely welcome by the people of Bridlington. Hopefully we'll be back soon.

Eskdale Festival Whitby

What a day! Harmonia won three trophies last year and this year they were attempting to retain two of them. They made a great start winning the Songs from the Shows class with their rendition of Circle of Life from the Lion King arranged by their musical director Alison Davis. Their splinter group, the Harmonettes made up of four members of Harmonia, won the Ensemble Class on their first attempt. Next up was the Ladies Class which comprises a set piece and a contrasting one of the choir's choice and the choir were delighted to be placed 3rd. The Recital, which is the highlight of the day, is where the choirs choose three contrasting pieces and Harmonia were hoping that they could win this trophy for the third year running. It was a big ask as this year there were several very good new choirs taking part. Harmonia were the last of the 11 choirs to sing and were absolutely thrilled when they were placed first once again.

Milton Rooms, Malton

What a celebration of local musical talent! Ustavan, meaning a celebration, saw Harmonia as well as Swinton Excelsior Brass Band and Thornton le Dale Ukeleles performing an Indian piece specially created for them as well as a selection of music from their own repertoire. This experimental project by the Asian Arts organisation Manasamitra in conjunction with the Milton Rooms proved to be a resounding success. It was a real challenge for each of these amateur musical groups but they each rose to the challenge and put in a tremendous performance.
